Sheryl Lee Ralph stars as The President of the United States in new series, Motherland: Fort Salem, coming in March

Jamaican American actress and singer, Sheryl Lee Ralph, stars as the President of the United States in the upcoming series, Motherland: Fort Salem and she is looking forward to the role.
The series, set for premiere on March 18 on Freeform Network, focuses on three witches who have been trained to use their supernatural skills to fight terrorists who threaten the country.
Sheryl Lee, who jetted into Jamaica in December, remained up to January to enjoy some of the good old Jamaican life before returning to the USA.
“I have a new series coming out called The Motherland and it’s very interesting,” she told 1962Entertainment last week.
“It’s all about Witches, the power of witchcraft and what it takes to be a human to overcome witchcraft which is very deep. But I play the President of the United States of America, so I’m looking forward to that,” she divulged.
“Of course I’m looking forward to another season of McGyver, I play Mama Coulton, and I’m wrapping up this season now of Ray Donovan on Showtime, so God has been good and I’m working.”
Sheryl Lee has starred in or appeared in several movies and television series since making her acting debut as a teenager in Sidney Poitier’s 1977 crime comedy, A Piece of the Action, starring Poitier and Bill Cosby, with a cast that also included James Earl Jones, Ja’net Dubois and others.
She also appeared in Sister Act 2 in 1993, which starred Whoopi Goldberg, before making appearances in several other movies.
Her TV roles include Moesha (1996-2001) in which she played a lead role, Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, Claw, Fam, and McGyver, among others.
On stage, she has taken part in theatre productions such as Dreamgirls (1981) and Wicked (2016). In music, Sheryl Lee Ralph is known mostly for her 1984 hit single, In The Evening, which is the name of her only album.
